Charity Concerts

Every year, Santi Saengthong hosts a series of charity concerts at his music school in town to raise money for local schools. This year, I was lucky enough to share the stage with Andrew Healey on cello (UK), Ivo Wiesner on piano (Germany), and Santi Saengthong on piano (Thailand) over the three evenings. What impressed me about the series was Santi's philosophy of sharing the stage with young students, who themselves had earned the right to perform via auditions earlier in the year. The students were all from Thailand: Steve Parfitt, Jetniphat Haemanwhichian, and Wichai Jonathan Suepha.

I performed Keiko Abe's Wind in the Bamboo Grove, Ney Rosauro's Preludio No.1 Mi menor, Eckhard Kopetzki's Etude Hommage II, Fernando Sor's Etude No 24 and my own composition "Flatrock."

The money raised was given to the Baan Mae Sap School in Samoeng to purchase musical instruments for the students there.
